Why should I read?
Once you reach Year 4 and understand what you are reading, at chronological age, or above, you are considered to be a fluent reader. You will begin to use reading as a way to reach out into the world (both real and imaginary) and gather relevant information about it.
What can I read?
Mainly, you should be reading books, comics or magazines that you enjoy. The more you read, the better you get at reading AND spelling AND writing. You also become a more interesting person because you will have new topics to talk to people about.
You can read books from home, school, the public library and friends.
How can I write a good book review / diary for Shelfari and Lexile?
Write your review in Word or Pages and email it to your teacher. I will load your points for Lexile books. For other books, you can also load your review into the class Shelfari application by using the class login that has been emailed to you.
Click Here to read sample reviews by other school children.

When do I need to fill in a reading log?
Your Reading Log Sheet is one way of showing that you are working on your goal of improving your reading. This is a great way to keep track of all the lovely books you read that are not registered with Lexile. Lexile books do not need to be recorded in your Log Sheet as the website tracks these automatically each time you complete a quiz or send me your review. When your reading log is almost full, glue a new one into your homework book from the homework wall or print one from the homework page of the class WIKI here.
